Milan is one of the commercial and financial centers of the world, is the main city of northern Italy and the second city of Italy by city, capital of the province of Milan and the region Lombardy. It is located in the Po Valley, one of the more developed regions of Italy.

Milan is one of the four engines of the European economy. In 2008, GDP of Lombardy, was estimated by INSEE 366,130.51 million euros, the second in Europe (after Ile-de-France).

Milan, the economic and industrial capital of Italy, has the appearance and characteristics of a modern metropolis, skyscrapers (famous Pirelli skyscraper 127 m high, built in 1959), glass and metal buildings and department stores.
