Miami is a city located in southeastern Florida on the Miami River, between Enverglades and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade U.S.. It was founded on July 28, 1896 and 2009 census has a population of 433,136, the metropolitan area encompasses more than 5.4 million inhabitants, making it the seventh largest in the United States. The United Nations has estimated that in 2008, Miami became the fourth largest urbanized area in the country, behind Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.





Miami is considered a global city of importance in finance, commerce, media, entertainment, arts and international trade. The city is home to many company headquarters, banks and television studios. It is also international center for popular entertainment in television, music, fashion, film and performing arts. The Port of Miami is considered the port that has the largest volume of cruise ships in the world and is home also to several cruise line companies. In addition, the city has the largest concentration of international banks in the United States.
In 2008, the city was awarded the title "cleanest city in America" by Forbes magazine for his years working on air quality, green spaces, its clean drinking water and roads, and various recycling programs. That same year, Miami was ranked the third richest city in the U.S. and twenty-second in the world, according to a study by UBS AG.

Miami has important cultural attractions such as theaters, museums, parks and performing arts centers. The most recent addition is the Adrianne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts opened in October 2006 under the name of Carnival Center, is the second largest arts center in the United States after the Lincoln Center in New York and is the headquarters of the Great opera Florida. Meanwhile, the Miami City Ballet, the dance company of the state of Florida, often represent their works at the Jackie Gleason Theater, among others. The Knight Concert Hall is the second room of the Arsht Center with capacity for 2,200 people, the center also has the Carnival Studio Theater and the Peacock Rehearsal Studio. The total area of 53,000 square meters attracts large-scale shows, ballets, concerts and music from around the world and is the center of most important arts of Florida
